Arthur Darvill and Joanna Christie perform on Talk Stoop
Arthur Darvill at The Arcade
Last night I went to see Once for a third time! This time I went with a club from my college, so tickets were really cheap! And I went to Schmackary’s for “dinner” with my best friend - so that was awesome! Schmackary’s is the best cookie place in all of New York City - if you’re ever in the neighborhood, you need to go and get a cookie there!!
The show was so amazing, as usual. This production really moves me because it’s so different from every other Broadway show that I’ve seen. Just the stage, the cast, the music; everything is so amazing and beautiful. I went on stage for the pre-show and it’s one of my absolute favorite parts about this particular production; it’s really intimate and homey feeling. The atmosphere in that theatre is incredible.
"Falling Slowly" is my favorite song from the show, but I don’t think I will ever be able to fully express how beautiful "Gold" is. Arthur’s vocals are incredible, and I honestly have no idea how these talented musicians can sing, dance, act, and play their instruments at the same time. It really is just phenomenal.
I couldn’t stage door last night because I was with school, which was a little upsetting, but it’s ok! I got to see the show again and I’m so thankful for that.
Ask A Star: Once's Arthur Darvill
Two of my pictures of Arthur from the free “Once” performance in front of the theatre today! (I’ll be uploading more of the whole cast as well!)
This week was “Once Week” at “Once” as a way to thank the fans for the show’s success on Broadway. Today, along with a free ticket lottery, the cast did a performance outside of the theatre! I love this show, and the cast is so spectacular. They are some of the most talented people on Broadway because not only do they act and sing, but they play their own instruments during the show. The cast always looks like they are having so much fun, and it was great to not only see the entire class, but the understudies as well!
We didn’t win the lotto but it’s ok because I have seen the show already. I’m just so happy that I was able to get a picture with Arthur! Actually, my phone was on “video” and not “camera” mode and it was extremely rushed so it’s not the greatest picture but it’s still a picture! He was in a rush and security people were telling him to not take pictures but he stopped and got a picture with me and my little brother (I cut him out because I don’t wanna put pics of him online). We didn’t get to speak with him except a “thank you” but him stopping for us was really nice!
It was such a great day and I’m so happy that I went today!
On Saturday, Amanda and I had the most incredible day.
Amanda and I went to go and see “Once” for her birthday! I had seen it on my birthday and I loved it so much that I wanted Amanda to see it for hers too!
The show was absolutely incredible; We didn’t get rush seats but we did get the “partial view” seats which are actually quite great; you only miss about 3 minutes of the show so they’re honestly worth it.
Arthur and this incredible cast put on the most amazing show. I already made a post about “Once” for my birthday so I won’t write too many details about the show but since the last time I saw it two months ago, I feel Arthur has really grown into this role and I’m really happy for him. He plays the role of Guy so perfectly and his acting, singing, and guitar playing are really top notch. It was really exciting to go up on stage again during pre-show as well. Being surrounded by and sharing a stage with all of these incredible musicians (Arthur included - he was literally a foot away from us) is really something else. I can’t even describe it.
Arthur didn’t stage door after (sadly =[ ), but Amanda and I did snag this picture! Last time I was there Steve Kazee was still on the pictures in front of the theater and I was so happy to see Arthur there now!
