Yesterday was my 21st birthday, and my mom wanted to do something special with me.  Despite the rainy weather, we went to the Matilda lottery and didn’t win (for a Wednesday matinee it was so crowded, and it isn’t even tourist season!), so we went over to Once just by any off chance there would be rush tickets available.  There weren’t any rush seats left, but there were tickets available at a very reasonable price (only a couple of dollars more than the rush seats), and they were 5th row!  My mom got them for us since it was my birthday, and I’ve been dying to see this show for about a year now.  It’s a real plus that Arthur Darvill is in it now because I had been wanting to see the show for a long time, so seeing Arthur was amazing! We went and got lunch, and then went to the show!  30 minutes before the show starts, the cast puts on a preshow where they play Irish folk music on stage and the audience is invited on the stage to get a drink at the bar and to watch them perform.  I can’t even begin to describe how I felt when I walked onto that stage and then looked into the audience - it was one of the most incredible feelings in the world.  About half way through the preshow, Arthur came on stage!  I can now say that I shared a stage on Broadway with Arthur Darvill!! The show was as amazing as I thought it was going to be.  I teared up during “Falling Slowly” and “Falling Slowly (Reprise)” probably because those are my two favorite songs from the show.  The entire cast is so spectacular, and they look like they’re having the time of their life when they’re performing.  It was amazing to just watch them all play their instruments, act, sing, and dance at the same time.  These people are crazy talented.   Speaking of talent, Arthur is incredible.  My mom was surprised that he could sing and play guitar that well.  He really embraced this role and I think he did such an amazing job.  I was so upset when Steve Kazee left the show, but seeing Arthur was such a treat and I’m so happy that I was fortunate enough to see him! After the show we stage doored, but Arthur didn’t come out.  I was disappointed, but I was just so happy to have been able to see the show that it didn’t upset me too much.  I’m definitely going back, so hopefully he’ll stage door that day!   After the show my mom and I went home, and she had my favorite dinner and cupcakes ready to go so I got to eat all of my favorite foods (I don’t know how she does it; she’s supermom).  I ALSO GOT DOCTOR WHO YAHTZEE THAT COMES WITH A TARDIS!  I also got a Playbill binder so I can start to store my Playbills in a way that they won’t get ruined (I store them in an old shoebox).  All in all, I had the most perfect birthday, and I’m so happy that I got to spend it with my mom!
